Jewell’s Place is dedicated to serving adults aged 18 years and older who have cognitive disabilities. A significant number of these individuals also experience physical disabilities, necessitating 24-hour assistance across all facets of daily living, including eating, bathing, dressing, and transportation.
Residents typically share living accommodations with one or two housemates and benefit from the support of trained and compassionate staff members.

A significant proportion of these individuals also experience physical disabilities, requiring continuous assistance with various aspects of daily living, including eating, bathing, dressing, and transportation. Residents typically share living accommodations with one or two housemates and benefit from the support of trained and compassionate staff members.
The establishment of Jewell’s Place was a direct response to the critical need for residential services for individuals who can no longer reside with their families due to factors such as aging, health issues, or other circumstances. To address this need, Jewell’s Place has formed a partnership with the State of Maryland’s Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), offering services to individuals from State Residential Centers as well as those within the broader community.
Initially operating under the designation of CALMRA in collaboration with the ARC of Prince George’s County, CALMRA attained corporate independence on July 1, 1996, and subsequently adopted the name Jewell’s Place.
In October 2009, Jewell’s Place launched a senior center in Laurel, Maryland, aimed at providing daytime services to seniors and individuals with age-related disabilities, cognitive disabilities, and/or physical disabilities.
